1. The origin of the connector

The birth of the connector was born from the fighter manufacturing technology. The aircraft in the battle must be refueled and repaired on the ground. The time spent on the ground is an important factor in the victory of a battle. Therefore, during World War II, the U.S. military authorities were determined to reduce ground maintenance time and increase the fighting time of fighter aircraft. They first united various control instruments and components, and then connected them into a complete system by connectors. During the repair, the failed unit was disassembled and replaced with a new unit, and the aircraft was immediately able to take off. After the war, AT-T Bell Labs successfully developed the Bell telephone system, followed by the rise of industries such as computers and communications, which led to more development opportunities for connectors derived from stand-alone technology and the market expanded rapidly.

2. The meaning of the connector

Connectors are devices (including accessories) used to implement electrical connections between electrical circuits or electronic machinery, etc., and are called connectors. A broad-spectrum connector refers to the bridge between all signals. It includes various unitized electronic and electrical modules and components connected into a complete system in a short time.

3.Classification of connectors

3.1 According to the nature of use, it is divided into external connectors (for external enclosures) and internal connectors (for internal enclosures).

3.2 According to the processing method, it is divided into crimp type, crimp type (IDCType), also known as puncture type, solder type (SolderType), and zero insertion type (ZIFType). 3.3 According to the usage method, it is divided into wire-to-board connectors, board-to-board connectors, wire-to-wire connectors, sockets, and input / output connectors.

3.4 According to the form, it is divided into PCB board connector, flat cable connector, coaxial cable connector, embedded connector, pin connector, circular connector, angle connector, and connector for printed wiring board.

3.5 According to the structure, it is divided into general type connector, moisture-resistant waterproof connector, environment-resistant connector, air-tight connector, fire-resistant connector, and water-resistant connector.

4. Composition of the connector

The connector is composed of an insulator, a plug combination, a socket combination, and a wire.

4.1 Insulator ﹕ is used to maintain the fixed position of each combination and complete the electrical insulation parts between each combination.

4.2 Plug combination: rectangular or round steel pins or terminals are used to insert parts (terminals or springs) of the socket combination.

4.3 Socket combination body: In order to maintain good contact with the plug combination body, it contains a combination of elastic function parts.

4.4 Wires: Generally used wire, such as electronic wire, cable, isolation wire, etc.

5. Characteristics of the connector

5.1 One of the male or female contacts is flexible. The contacts can be connected to each other to ensure that the circuit is connected.

5.2 The terminal part of the contact has a wiring structure that is easy to implement with wires or printed wiring boards. It is used for welding, encapsulation, holding, and through-hole welding. 5.3 The contacts are fixed at the correct position of the insulator. The insulator can be used to maintain the voltage insulation resistance between the contacts.

5.4 has a coupling structure, which facilitates the insertion or disengagement of contacts, and does not change its position after vibration or shock.

6. Use of connector

Widely used in computers and interface equipment, telecommunications, communications equipment, instruments, video recorders, video players, televisions, game consoles, audio, telephones, vehicles, medical, electronics, military and aviation industries.
